It turns out that Project Runway won't be moving to Lifetime as soon as we thought. According to Variety, New York Supreme Court Judge Richard Lowe blocked The Weinstein Company from yanking the show from Bravo and carting it over to Lifetime for its sixth season. Apparently, the judge decided that the Weinsteins' movement of the property violated the right of first refusal that Bravo has with the series.
Which got me thinking - maybe this legal roadblock is a blessing in disguise for both Runway and its pack of fashionista/o followers. Seriously, in the long run, it may be healthier for the series to take a short break instead of rushing its sixth season to Lifetime by January '09 like the Weinsteins had originally planned. |
